Swimming lessons:
- Starting date (each session Monday through Friday for two week periods): TBD
- Fee will be $15.00 per child with a maximum of $30.00 per family.
Pool Rules
Rules and guidelines apply to all, please do not ask for exceptions.
- HAVE APPROPRIATE SWIMMING SUIT! (White T-shirt only)
- Children unaccompanied by an adult during open swim hours must have completed Level 1 in swim lessons or be entering the 1st grade.
- NO gum
- NO Band-Aids (worn in the pool)
- NO Diving in the shallow end (3′ to 6′)
- NO flips off the side of the pool. Enter feet first facing forward.
- NO Running
- NO Carrying another person, except for parents carrying small children.
- NO Horseplay, dunking or pushing
- NO splashing another swimmer or guards
- NO profanity
- NO Spitting or Spouting of water
- Patrons known or suspected of having infectious diseases are NOT allowed in the pool. If you have had cryptosporidium (diarrhea) in the last 2 weeks, please do NOT use our pool.
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will be prohibited from pool use.
- All garbage must be disposed of properly.
- NO swimming in the deep end unless you are using the diving board.
- Deep-water test consists of swimming the width of the pool 2 times with a reasonably good American Crawl and treading water for 30 seconds. If in doubt, consult the guard in the guard house and/or the Supervisor.
- Lifeguards may exclude anyone from the deep water who has not demonstrated sufficient ability to swim.
- Patrons are expected to abide by and cooperate with the lifeguards’ decision. Patrons are not allowed to interfere or reprimand employees of the Luick Pool. If a difference of opinion should arise, patrons should advise the Luick Pool Supervisor.
- Take a shower before entering the pool.
- Do NOT hang on the ropes, ladders, or basketball hoops.
- Children who are non-toilet trained or incontinent individuals must wear a swim diaper which is to be disposed of properly. Children swim diapers are available for purchase at the front window.
- Baby strollers are allowed on deck with parents
- “Nerf Balls” will be allowed with the exception of busy days. They may have a cover on them. Do not whip the ball, it can seriously hurt someone. If this does occur, the ball will be taken away and returned to the patron when they leave the pool for the day.
- NO goggles or masks are allowed in the diving area or on the slide.
- Neither the City of Belmond nor the Luick Pool staff is responsible for loss or theft of any personal belongings.
- Do NOT play with rescue tubes, lifeguard chairs, or other lifesaving equipment.
- DO NOT play around or on guard chairs.
- Do NOT tamper with the drain in the deep water.
- NO equipment in the deep water.
- The temperature must be 70 degrees F and at least 12 swimmers in the water to open and remain open.
- NO life jackets are allowed except during parent tot on Wednesday nights.
- Arm floatation devices are not recommended but are allowed for children who have not yet taken swim lessons. (Ages 5 and under ONLY)
- Plastic rings/sticks may be used in the pool appropriately. Patrons will be asked to remove them from the pool if used inappropriately.
- A limited number of lounge chairs on the premises may be used in the zero depth area.
- Unauthorized persons will not be permitted to use office facilities of the pool.
- NO Pets will be allowed on the premises, except for permitted dog events.
- Management has the right to refuse entry.
Diving Rules
- One person on the diving board at a time. (Must wait on cement until board is clear)
- Dive straight out from the board
- Don’t prolong time on the board
- Don’t swim under the board
- Must not dive until the previous diver has reached the ladder or area is clear.
- After dive, swim clear of diving area
- One bounce on the diving board.
- NO running back and forth on the diving board
- NO hanging from boards.
Waterslide Rules
- Riders must lie on their backs or sit on their bottoms at all times.
- All riders must be 42″ tall or have prior approval from management in order to ride.
- No foreign objects are allowed in pockets
- No goggles or masks allowed on face or in lap while riding on the slide.
- Only one rider at a time
- No tubes, mats, or lifejackets are permitted
- Riders must be in good health, pregnant women or individuals with heart or back conditions should not use this ride.
- Do not use the slide while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Follow the instructions of the slide attendant.
- No running, standing, kneeling, rotating, tumbling, or stopping in the flume. Arms and hands must remain inside the flume.
- Leave the plunge area promptly after entering.
Play Structure Rules (Pool Pass Purchase Guidelines:)
Basketball hoops-
No hanging on the rim or backboard
Children’s play center-
Riders on the zero depth play structure that are under 36” must have an adult present.
Zero depth activity center will be encouraged for those who are 6 and under.
Climbing Walls –
- All climbers must be 42″ tall or have prior approval from management.
- No goggles or masks allowed on face when climbing.
- Climbers must be in good health, pregnant women or individuals with heart or back conditions should not climb.
- Do not climb while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Follow the instructions of the climbing wall attendant.
Pool Pass Purchase Guidelines
- Family Passes are for immediate family only! This is defined as Mom, Dad, Son(s) and/or Daughter(s), steps are fine, BUT you must be married. If you aren’t married you will need separate passes! The only exceptions are anyone still living at home and are 18 years of age or younger and college students living at home until 23 years of age while still attending college.
- NO! Cousins, friends, grandparents, or babysitters!
- If you deduct them on your taxes they can be on your pool pass.
- You cannot do grandparents and grandchildren on the same pass!
- You cannot have two families living in the same house, unless you are married!
