In her free time, she enjoys spending it with her dogs, utilizing the trails, gardening, playing pickleball, boating with her husband, cooking, movies, books, volunteering and meeting new people in the community.

Julie is a Belmond native and moved back to Belmond in 2016 after being in Wisconsin for several years. She started as Belmond Growth Alliance Director and Assistant to City Manager/Clerk in January 2021. She is the mother of two sons and grandmother to six. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering in the community and at her church, singing in the church choir, watching movies, and playing games.

Sonya Trager started as a clerk at the library in 2010 and moved into the director position in 2022. She is active in the community and serves as secretary for the Belmond Community Service Women. She also volunteers at St. Francis Xavier Parish where she cantors.

Brad is a Belmond native and started with the fire department as a junior fire fighter while still in high school. He has worked his way up through the ranks becoming Chief in 2022. Brad has been employed at Iowa Specialty Hospital – Belmond since 2007. When not at one of his 3 children’s activities his family can be found snowmobiling in the winter or on the lake with family in the summer.

On January 2, 2024 the Belmond City Council appointed Dario Gamino as the new Chief of Police in Belmond. Chief Gamino started his law enforcement career with the Charles City, IA Police Department in May of 2017 as a Police Officer. During his time working in Charles City, he served as a K9 officer and as a Driver Instructor. Chief Gamino also worked for the Bremer County Jail in Waverly, IA as a correctional officer briefly in 2022. He moved to Belmond in 2022, where he was hired as a police officer, then promoted to Sergeant.
As Sergeant, Chief Gamino oversaw  the Belmond Police department Officers. He is a graduate of Waldorf University in Forest City, IA. He enjoys spending time working with officers and citizens, creating a progressive police department and serving the Belmond Community. Chief Gamino is also a first generation Mexican American and is fluent in Spanish, grew up in San Jose, CA, graduating from James Lick High School. After high school, he attended Waldorf University studying Criminal Justice and wrestled on scholarship for the warriors. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in May of 2017. 
Chief Gamino thanks the City Council, Mayor, City Manager and former Chief McDaniel for their overwhelming support during his time with the city. 
Chief Gamino is looking forward to the future and continuing with his vision for the department to be well-trained, professional law enforcement agency which partners with the community to problem solve. 
When Chief Gamino has free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, attending Belmond’s special events and vacationing when possible. 

Justin Fournier

Justin is a Belmond native. He started working for the City of Belmond in 2018 as Waste Water Lead Operator. In 2020 he was promoted to Public Works Director. He acquired his degree in Environmental Science in 2022. Enjoys motorcycles, hunting and spending time with his family.
